Ladies involved in the Midlothian Women's day flash-dance in Dalkeith to commemorate the centenary of International Women's Day

The Midlothian Women’s Aid flash mob we held to celebrate International Women’s Day was a huge success, we gathered a large crowd who watched as our performers danced away in Dalkeith!!!

MWA brought together a remarkable group of women including staff and service users and women from the private, voluntary and statutory sector. We all worked together to learn a short dance routine and then performed this in flash mob style in Jarnac Court, Dalkeith.

This diverse group of women celebrated the achievements made by women in overcoming the devastating impact of domestic abuse on their lives.

Well done and thank you to everyone involved, you are fabulous!

Special thanks to:

Midlothian Women’s Aid staff and volunteers for their hard work in making sure the event happened!

All our dancers, the event could not happen without you. We appreciate not just your efforts on the day but also all the time and enthusiasm that went into the many rehearsals beforehand – the process was just as successful as the event itself.

To our volunteers who came along and supported our event and ensured the safety of our performers: Walter Marr, Walter Anderson and Daryl Thomson.

Julie McInally of DANCE POINTE ACADEMY for her stunning choreography and the time given to teach us our moves!

The staff at the County Hotel, Dalkeith for their support in hosting our event. We were made to feel welcome and are very grateful for the free use of the hotel facilities for the event and for rehearsals. Donations for a raffle for our performers and volunteers were also received so a huge thanks to The County Hotel, Bacardi, Coca Cola and Coldwells Arts Company.

To the Bombay Lounge, Dalkeith who donated some nibbles for our performers.

To the following incredible women who made the extra effort in supporting and ensuring we had a successful event: Jillian Elliott, Andrea Frost, Elaine Dickson, Fiona McCabe, Lyn Jardine (working till all hours editing and formatting media), Carrie Sibson (rehearsal video-graphy), Sheena Anderson (who made some customised jewellery), Jak Tazzar (most miles travelled to attend our event…all the way from Australia!).
